General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Junior FPGA Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and developing firmware for the Digital Receiver Exciter and Digital Beamformer and will also participate in all aspects of the development life-cycle including design, development, integration, and test.

To qualify, you must have experience with and/or an understanding of:

  • VHDL and their associated modeling and simulation tools

  • High speed digital electronics, proper timing, and debugging capabilities are required

  • Digital signal processing (DSP) techniques and the layout of high speed digital boards

  • Embedded software development and/or digital board design are highly desirable

  • Full proficiency in the following program efforts: High Level & Detailed Level Design documentation including requirements and test; full development life cycle through integration and test, including but not limited to, execution and approval of acceptance testing; and work with other hardware and firmware designers and leads on product design and delivery

Additional Responsibilities

  • High-performance FPGA based board development

  • Documenting design details (including interface timing diagrams, block diagrams, and detailed descriptions)

  • Participating in design meetings and reviews

  • SW development

  • Integration and Test of systems and subsystems

  • Working with customers and subcontractors on a regular basis

  • Contributing to project planning and reviews

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Junior FPGA Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or the equivalent and at least zero to two years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree are also eligible.

Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
