Job Summary

To perform the role of Engineering Manager on multi -disciplinary rail projects. Act as Contractor's Engineering Manager / Contractor's Responsible Engineer (Civils)


The post is located in Swindon and reports to the Unit Manager and/or an Associate, but will be expected to undertake visits and/or short stays to other locations in the UK


Perform productively across a wide range of assignments, tasks and projects
Deliver projects to clients satisfaction at the appropriate standard
Perform the role of Engineering Manager - CEM.
Ensure designs are resourced effectively and efficiently

Achieve clients commercial, financial and other targets
Undertake marketing, seek prospects and give client presentations
Maintain client care
Assist in the preparation of tenders
Be aware of and contribute to the goals of both the Company and Unit Business Plan
Assist in the production of the Unit Business Plan
Have experience of issues of contracts, project risks and professional indemnity

Responsible for small design team
Ensure quality standards and procedures are maintained
Motivate staff and ensure deadlines are met
Ensure training and development needs of staff are met
Contribute and improve the quality of information, methods, deliverables and systems
Demonstrate leadership

Be committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for self and discipline
Take an active role in the development of younger engineers
Demonstrate high standards and integrity in all business relationships
Maintain the professional image of Scott Wilson at all times
Promote a professional attitude in dealing with colleagues, clients and the community at large.

Application of Skills & Knowledge

Build expertise by developing an overall understanding of AECOM offerings and processes
Able to be a source of advice for other colleagues and those within the firm
Monitors accuracy of project plans and escalates problems

Develops and maintains high credibility and visibility within AECOM and clients organisation
Able to add value to projects for both client and AECOM

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be willing to undertake additional duties as requested by immediate manager
  • Must be prepared to undertake railway medical and PTS course
  • Must comply with company D&A Policy
  • Must be fit enough to pass railway medical and PTS course as site visits may be necessary
  • Must be prepared to visit sites at a variety of locations within the UK

Preferred Qualifications


Relevant Degree
Chartered Engineer and/or Member of relevant Professional Institution

  • Proven relevant experience, with a significant part in the railway sector
