Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an immediate opening for a Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) Design Engineer to join our Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) team in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports one of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate's primary focus will be leading a cross functional team in the design, integration, installation, and test of critical security infrastructure associated with the Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) program, which provides the integrated hardware and software platforms that protect our nation's strategic assets. This engineer will work with Program Management and the integrated product team to develop and implement key NWS subsystems. The individual will enhance his/her skill set by working in a challenging and fast-paced environment with a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. The employee must be flexible and able to work in a very dynamic environment.
The Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) Design Engineer provides the expertise required to perform NWS design per the Contract. Specific responsibilities may include:
Additionally, the Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) Design Engineer may be required to support business management functions within General Dynamics, including pursuits, proposals, and Research and Development efforts.
Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of emerging technologies, and the ability to work directly with government customers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) Design Engineer position requires a bachelors degree in a specialized area or the equivalent and at least five to eight years of related work experience. Applicants with a masters degree and a minimum of three to five years of related experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Previous design and integration experience on High Security Facilities, Strategic Weapons System (SWS) or NWS programs is preferred, as is a familiarity with Nuclear Safety requirements and Nuclear Weapons Surety requirements. Security related certifications including ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) and/or ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or progress towards either are also preferred.
