GDMS has an opening for a Lead Software Engineer to join a team of engineers that design and manufacture a range of high-assurance, ruggedized computer systems, including mission computers, platform computing, special-purpose supercomputers and signal processing systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Software Engineer will lead the design development and integration development of systems software, software applications and/or tools for new programs and subprograms.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Lead a team of 5-10 Software Engineers through full software life-cycle development using object oriented methodologies
  • Implement software in C/C++/Ada
  • Partner closely with Systems Engineers to derive software requirements
  • Lead, create and deliver embedded software application/systems leveraging the following safety standards: DO-178, MIL-STD-2167, MIL-STD-882E
  • Model in Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Rhapsody
  • Investigate and provide technical solutions to solve state of the art complex problems
  • Integrate and test software and systems

Additional Responsibilities
  • Present complex technical solutions to customers and other stakeholders
  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems’ services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems software solutions.

The Lead Software Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent field and eight to ten years of related experience; or master’s degree and six to eight years of related experience.

The candidate must possess good presentation skills and must have significant experience with the following:
  • C, C++
  • VxWorks and Integrity Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)

Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
