General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Test Engineer. The position provides an opportunity to develop test strategies and conduct test programs that validate and verify cutting-edge technologies supporting some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with government and industry partners to develop solutions that allow US Navy fleet members to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various GDMS, COTS and government technologies. Former US Navy Submarine Fire Control Technicians and Chief Fire Control Technicians are highly desired in this position and encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Test Engineers analyze, design, develop and test GDMS systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; and working proactively with other test team members both locally and in Newport, RI. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures

  • Support team lead with budgeting, forecasting, and management for the team in accordance with program funding

  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

  • Provide strong attention to detail in creation and analysis of timely test results and reports

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Test Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in systems engineering, or the equivalent and at least two to five years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of zero to two years of related experience are also eligible. Former US Navy Submarine Fire Control Technicians and Chief Fire Control Technicians are highly desired in this position and encouraged to apply.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance must be obtainable within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
