Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Supervisor, Shop Operations to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security NA selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities

This position requires a dynamic leader to supervise personnel performing production (assembly, inspection and test) and dock functions (receiving, storage, packing and shipping) in a manufacturing environment for high-reliability Undersea Systems. The responsibilities of the Supervisor include:

  • Execute production plans through meeting cost, quality, and schedule commitments

  • Motivate and mentor staff to demonstrate a high commitment to employee safety, product quality, and disciplined manufacturing methods

  • Communicate production status, barriers, and solutions with other functions

  • Administer the general agreement with the Communication Workers of America local union

  • Address performance and conduct issues in a timely manner

  • Promote a workplace environment of trust, respect, and integrity

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and 3+ years of demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience of direct reports. Ideal candidate should also:

  • Experience in lean manufacturing methodologies and 6 sigma problem solving

  • Working knowledge of MS Office software packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong skills in multitasking, problem solving, and ethical decision making

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Working Knowledge of MRP and ERP production systems

  • Knowledge of ISO9001 Quality Management System

  • Knowledge of molding, soldering, or fiber optic splicing equipment and processes
