Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Technical Support Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design and manufacturing of advanced electronic systems. Key Responsibilities
Advanced Technical Support Engineers perform technical activities which impact the proposal, system-level design, detail design and manufacturing of advanced electronics systems. This position requires technical disciplines such as component engineering, failure analysis, human factors engineering and/or material engineering.

The selected candidate will provide technical support for the US and UK Trident Strategic Weapons Systems and the US Attack Weapons Systems deployed on SSBN and SSGN submarines and at remote field sites.

  • Support SSBN Fire Control System (FCS) and Attack Weapons Control System (AWCS) design investigation efforts including the diagnosis and resolution of systems coordination, software, or hardware related anomalies or problems

  • Proficient in writing white papers/reports, ablility to develop step by step procedures, create Newsletters/Technical Bulletins, and deliver technical presentations

  • Support upgrades and modifications to deployed systems equipment including on-site fault isolation and resolution of technical issues

  • Develop Installation Plans and Checkout Procedures associated with equipment removal, installation, modification, test, operation and maintenance

  • Develop overall knowledge of the project and program

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures

  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of advanced electronics systems, and the ability to further advance and support General Dynamics Mission Systems network technology.

The Advanced Technical Support Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or the equivalent, and three to five years of related experience; or six to eight years of SSBN/SSGN fleet or program support experience.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
