Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Lead - Group Manager with extensive experience in structures to join our dynamic team located in our Vancouver office.
  • Planning, organizing, and leading projects teams in the delivery, design, and documentation of project requirements;
  • Design of bridges and facilities for public and private infrastructure including roadways, heavy rail, light rail, pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, foundations, and buildings;
  • Project management and lead of structural engineering projects;
  • Technical structural lead on bridge and various multi-discipline projects;
  • Preparation of technical specifications and design reports;
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates;
  • Providing support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals;
  • Developing new and maintaining existing client relationships;
  • Point of contact for client enquires and queries;
  • Mentoring and development of technical staff;
  • Provide vision and leadership to staff.
  • Graduate from an accredited university in Civil Engineering with a focus on structures or Structural Engineering;
  • P. Eng designation is required;
  • 15+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer and project management experience relating to structural engineering for private and public sector projects;
  • Experience in the design of bridges for public and private transportation facilities including roadway, rail, transit, and pedestrian bridges;
  • Experience and interest in business development initiatives, and in the development and maintenance of client relations;
  • Experience with Design Build and P3 projects will be an asset;
  • Strong technical competence and report writing skills;
  • Ability to lead project teams of engineers, designers and drafters;
  • Must have sound knowledge of current engineering and construction principles, methods and practices;
  • Proficient in the use of structural design software;
  • Understanding of design and analysis of all structural materials;
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and to budget;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally);
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
