Job purpose
A Weekend Ward Host/ Hostess is required to work within a healthcare environment based in Ringwood, Dorset, BH2. You will be required to work Saturday and Sunday 6.45am to 2.45pm for a total of 16 hours per week.

To assist with the presentation and preparation of all food and drink whilst ensuring that a high standard of service is delivered to the Trust, Interserve and Patients. Ensure that the department is cleaned to the highest standards in line with food hygiene, NHS standards and health and safety regulations.

  • To provide exceptional service to all Patients
  • Demonstrates the can do attitude by taking care of patient needs
  • To prepare the dining area which may include moving and setting up furniture, setting up and moving trolleys and cleaning them
  • To prepare and clean the service area, service equipment, crockery, serving utensils, condiments, food and cutlery trays etc. as directed
  • To wash dishes, cutlery, tumblers, jugs, serving utensils, serving dishes, containers, tables, and all other catering equipment
  • To ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the unit at all times as is reasonably practical
  • To provide coffee & other hot beverages to the training standard required
  • To perform general cleaning duties in accordance with the cleaning schedules
  • Follows inventory stocking and recording guidelines
  • To maintain high standards of personal hygiene and food handling practices as laid out in your Health and Safety manual and as taught in basic food hygiene.
  • To report any complaint, compliment or incident or accident, near miss, fire, theft, loss, damage or other irregularity to the Supervisor /Manager.
  • Support the LEAN Programme

• Ensure personal conduct is of the highest standard whilst on the hospital premises, exhibiting courtesy and efficiency to patients, visitors and users of the service at all times.
• To follow any reasonable request from Trust staff.
• Attend training sessions as required

Health & Safety

• Adhere to all company and Trust health and safety requirements and expectations
• Proactive reporting of all Health and Safety issues including any hazards/potential hazards and reporting all accidents following the company's Accident reporting procedure
• Management and control of any cleaning chemicals according to COSHH regulations and manufacturers instructions.
• Wear the appropriate uniforms and safety equipment where required
• Always remember that 'SUCCESS IS NO ACCIDENT' and reported all accidents/incidents at work to your Team Leader after phoning the Accidents/Incidents helpline.

Desirable Qualifications / Skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Food Safety Level 2 certificate
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • To be reliable and responsible with a flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative, while being part of a team
  • Customer focused with proven customer care skill.
  • Positive and professional manner and attitude at all times
  • Educated to a good standard
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent Time Keeping
  • Ability to build up good relationships with staff at all levels
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Good understanding of the English Language
  • Working knowledge of a hospital environment is preferred but full training will be provided.
  • Food Hygiene knowledge.
