The Nuclear Shift Test Engineer (STE) directs reactor plant testing for his/her assigned shift (position requires various shift work, overtime, weekends, and holidays). This includes direction of Ships Force, Radiological Controls, Trades, Inspection, and Test Technician personnel. The STE ensures testing and operations involving the reactor plant are performed safely and in accordance with NAVSEA NA, Manual for the Control of Testing and Plant Conditions.|
Candidates must complete a comprehensive qualification program to become qualified as a Shift Test Engineer. This involves passing: 1) Extensive classroom training and written examinations; 2) Completion of Shipboard Training; 3) NAVSEA administered written examination; 4) EB administered oral examination.
Some or all of the training required for this position may be performed at off site locations.
Upon qualification as a STE, candidates hired in under this requisition will primarily be assigned to projects to support overhaul and repair activities of LOS ANGELES class submarines at Electric Boat Shipyard and the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department in Groton Connecticut.
