Sprinkler Designer-SimplexGrinnell

About the role:

  • Responsible for all aspects of sprinkler design including hydraulic calculations, shop drawings preparation, and project management
  • Design and layout fire protection systems to meet NFPA standards and AHJ requirements
  • Coordinate piping layout and elevations with other trades
  • List material for ordering and fabrication after drawings have been approved
  • Oversee material procurement, costs, and delivery
  • Troubleshoot issues raised by the AHJ, customers, and installers
  • Prepare hydraulic calculations and project submittal drawings
  • Receive and respond to customer design needs
  • Maintain project drawing files, drawing library, and associated records

Who we’re looking for:

  • Minimum qualification of a NICET level II in Water-Based Systems Layout is desired
  • Previous experience of at least three years in the fire protection industry
  • AutoCAD experience, combined with experience in designing and performing hydraulic calculations for sprinkler or water spray systems is required
  • AutoSprink and/or SprinkCAD knowledge or experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated with flexibility to respond to emergency situations
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to field survey buildings and facilities as required in the design process
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Willingness to travel domestically 5-10%
