Following the award of several contracts, our Customer Support Services function within Thales Defence Mission Systems are looking for an experienced Technical Author based in Templecombe to professionally deliver contractual obligations and packages of work, ensuring compliance to company policy and quality standards. You will act as a technical lead for the function and provide support, advice and guidance to the team regarding standards and specifications which need to be adhered to. You will also have the opportunity to review the latest technical publications technology and propose new solutions to the Technical Publications Manager and work on Bid and projects.

Key duties include:

  • Produce technical publications as directed by the Technical Publications Manager.
  • Write documentation plans and implement these.
  • Create Data Modules and Information sets in accordance with ASD1000D.
  • Utilise technical publications author ware and the Common Source Database.
  • Create illustrations.
  • Liaise with the design community.
  • Manage reviews and verifications.
  • Deliver to a high quality standard.
  • Set targets, measure progress and maintain effective cost and expenditure control within local work programmes.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
  • Experience working as a Technical Author, Technical Illustrator or Technical Publications Manager.
  • Experience writing technical publications within the defence, Military, MoD, Rail, Nuclear, Maritime, Aerospace, Energy or Engineering industry.
  • Experience using Common Source Database (ASD1000D).
