Selected candidates will join a group that is responsible for supporting a wide range of electrical systems and equipment in the following areas: reactor plant instrumentation and control systems, steam and electric plant systems, auxiliary electrical/electronic systems, power distribution equipment and systems, and advanced power electronics. Position supports all fleet submarines, including Los Angeles, Ohio, Seawolf, and Virginia Classes and training platforms (i.e. S5W/S6G MTS @ NPTU Charleston, SC and MARF/S8G Prototype @ Kesselring, NY). This job will provide for an unusually large variety of work of differing durations, and increased responsibilities and independence as ability and experience supports.|
Responsibilities include initial system and/or component design or upgrades as ship alterations, and life cycle support. Candidates will function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks including overall technical quality, working in a team environment, maintaining schedules and awareness of budgets, and interfacing with design and other engineering organizations. Candidates will also be required to evaluate and disposition system and component related questions and liaison inquiries from Naval Shipyards, Navy Forces afloat, land based prototypes, reactor plant prime contractors and NAVSEA. Selected candidates will be expected to effectively communicate within the organization as well as with NAVSEA, prime contractors, navy shipyards and equipment vendors.
Newly hired personnel will be assigned a mentor to assist in learning the above roles and responsibilities.
