- The candidate will be part of the Quality Assurance Engineering Team. The primary responsibility will be administering and performing the Quality Items Matrix (QIM) function for Electric Boat. The QIM process is a formal means to identify, coordinate and provide long term resolutions to construction quality problems that cross the Electric Boat and Huntington-Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) company boundaries. The candidate will interface with the HII-NNS QIM program administrator to track progress on issue resolutions as well as interfacing with Groton, Quonset Point and HII-NNS Operations, Engineering, Planning and Quality Assurance personnel to determine root causes of the identified problems and facilitate development and implementation of successful long term corrective actions. |
The candidate will also support the following activities: Ensuring the submarine pressure hull plating and frames meet the specification requirements for circularity, fairness and spacing. In this capacity, the candidate will interface with Groton and Quonset Point Optical Tool organizations as well as Waterfront Engineering to ensure all required measurements have been recorded and meet specification requirements. Support the module shipout process between Electric Boat and HII-NNS which requires verification that all work has been completed or incomplete work has been identified for transfer to the receiving activity. The candidate will also support the investigation, reporting and resolution of multi-disciplinary Global quality issues.
