Job Summary

Internally the Contract & Procurement Manager works closely with engineers of varying disciplines and project administrators to manage work packages and contracts that result as part of executing the extension of the Gabon Special Economic Zone. Externally, this position has contact with clients and contractors in a wide range of industries.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Contract & Procurement Manager will be responsible for:
  • Point of contract and overall responsibility for the contracts team
  • Development and finalization of the project contracting strategy
  • Manage the Implementation and execution of the project contracting strategy
  • Overseas the assessment & selection of contractors
  • Overseas the Management and administration of tendering, evaluation and award of contracts
  • Reviews contractual documents
  • Prepares contractual / status reports
  • Assesses, reviews, and advises Project Managers in respect of contractor claims for variations, progress claims and extensions
  • Provides the Project Managers with updates on contractor performance and assists in the resolution of contract disputes
  • Overseas the team to ensure that all commercial requirements of the contracts are satisfied
  • Promotes, finds opportunities for and maintains teamwork
  • Maintain quality of work (statutory requirements, corporate standard
  • Ensures compliance and adoption of practices supporting OH&S policy

Will be located in Western African, French speaking country
Incumbent should be willing to move in-country
Should have experience in airports, roads and railway

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years previous Contracts Manager experience on major projects
  • Minimum 10 years EPCM or project experience
  • Managed teams of minimum 10 people
  • Proven experience in the administration and management of contracts and contractors
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen in the engineering and construction environment

    Specific skills required
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • International procurement experience desirable
  • Communication skills - written messages are clear; communicates with passion and conviction; able to communicate at all levels Demonstrated commercial acumen, and ability to develop a client base Knowledge of the market for consulting services
  • High level of general computer skills, e.g. Excel
  • Teamwork Results orientated and self-starter
  • Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels in the organisation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, e.g. Supply Chain, Commerce, Law or Engineering
  • Member of industry related professional organisation
