About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. Job Summary
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Hazards Analyst in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will develop facility-specific Emergency Planning Hazards Assessments and Surveys and corresponding Emergency Action Levels in compliance with DOE 0 151.1C and other technical basis documents. Develop comprehensive hazardous material release consequence assessment reports using computer based plume modeling software (e.g. CAMEO, EPicode, Hotspot, NARAC, etc.) along with other common industrial software models. Review and interpret consequence assessment calculations for quality assurance of data. Develop and manage a hazards assessment database. Serve on applicable hazards assessment related working groups and/or subcommittees, as assigned. Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to emergency planners related to chemical and radiological release consequences. Provide support to the drill and exercise program as part of an exercise planning team, control and evaluation staff or exercise participant. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization during drills, exercises, and actual events, both during business hours and during on call rotations. Provide emergency preparedness overview training to users of hazards assessment/survey documents, including representatives from the US Department of Energy Carlsbad Field Office and local, State, and federal emergency preparedness officials.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or technical discipline or field related to the position.
  • Fifteen (15) years equivalent training and experience in emergency management, nuclear safety, hazards analysis or related work is required.
  • Four years of related professional experience in Hazards Analysis is required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of software applications such as Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to lead working groups or integrate into a working group under the leadership of a peer or manager.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including strong proofing/editing.
  • Ability to analyze information for studies and report. Must be able to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, multiple tasks and changing priorities.

  • Must possess interpersonal skills, discretion, and professionalism to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of management, peers, customers and offsite agencies.
  • Must possess an appropriate valid driver's license.
  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in interpretation and implementation of U.S. Department of Energy Federal Regulations, Orders and Guides related to consequence assessment is preferred.
  • Experience using fire and explosive computer models is a plus.
  • Experience in emergency response center environment is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of plume-modeling software programs (e.g. CAMEO, EPicode, Hotspot, NARAC, etc.)
  • Previous WIPP experience is preferred.
