Job Summary
The Project Manager will take on the role to manage the engineering, procurement and construction aspects and contribute to collective planning for client solutions. Contribute to the project delivery as subject matter (specifically site wide services and infrastructure). A demonstrated ability to take the project from the initial stage to project completion taking cognisance of different aspects of project life cycle and delivery mechanisms is required.

This position requires knowledge in multiple technical areas, sound problem resolution, judgment, decision-making and skilful use related project management software. It is both a management and leadership role. A solid understanding of project dynamics and solutions; and capable of interacting and shifting between different phases of operating is expected.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be responsible for:
  • Develop project plans by taking the results of other planning processes and putting them into a consistent, coherent document
  • Ensure project plans are executed by performing or coordinating the activities and/or technical and organisational interfaces included therein.
  • Develop and formalise a written scope statement as the basis for future project decisions
  • Identify specific activities that must be performed to produce the various project deliverables
  • Estimate the number of work periods which will be needed to complete individual activities
  • Analyse activity sequences, duration and resource requirements to create the project schedule
  • Determine required resources (people, equipment, materials) and what quantities of each should be used to perform project activities
  • Determine an estimate of the costs of the resources needed to complete the project activities and allocate cost to individual work items
  • Management of strong change procedures
  • Identify relevant quality standards to the project and determine how to satisfy them
  • Evaluate overall project performance on a regular basis to provide confidence that the project will satisfy the relevant quality standards
  • Monitor specific project results to determine if they comply with relevant quality standards and identifying ways to eliminate causes of unsatisfactory performance
  • Negotiations, procurement and acquisition of resources
  • Develop, manage and maintain strategic relationships and strategic alliances with relevant stakeholders
  • Provide guidance to contractors and project delivery team on civil aspects/concerns of the project
  • Identify and address emerging engineering issues that may impact project milestones
  • Implement strategic policy and processes throughout the engineering /project teams
  • Ensure that the impact of change is fully assessed and change management is implemented in a controlled manner
  • Oversee the constructability, value improving practices and peer review processes for the project
  • Regularly review the status of the design, budget and schedule and report progress
  • Oversee the development of the procurement process and the interfaces between engineering, procurement and vendor data requirements
  • Oversee the implementation process and ensure engineering milestones are achieved
  • Address emerging engineering issues and disputes with contractors
  • Organise and plan regularly scheduled management meetings
  • Establishing strong communication protocol

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years EPCM or project experience
Specific Skills required:
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Specialist knowledge/ multidiscipline Engineering knowledge
  • Relevant legislation & statutory requirements Previous experience in a similar role
  • Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels in the organisation
  • Able to maintain composure under all circumstances
  • Ownership, responsibility and accountability
Will be located in Western African, French speaking country
Incumbent should be willing to move in-country
Should have experience in airports, roads and railway

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering Degree
