Parsons Brinckerhoff is a global consulting firm assisting public and private clients to plan, develop, design, construct, operate and maintain hundreds of critical infrastructure projects around the world. We currently have a full-time Senior Supervising Transportation Planner opportunity available at our office in Washington, DC. The right candidate for this role can handle a wide array of projects and multiple assignments. This person thinks creatively and critically about innovative approaches to transportation and transit planning related to state and federal transportation agency services and projects.

The successful applicant will be expected to lead the growth the DC metropolitan transportation planning practice, develop the program as a business and develop as well as manage the staff involved with the planning of transportation services and facilities. As such, the individual will:
      • Serve as the leader within WSP-Parsons Brinckerhoff's Washington, DC metro area planning team,
      • Develop and lead the implementation of our strategy for serving the transportation market in the Metropolitan Washington region and with the federal government,
      • Grow the transportation planning program and team and supervise professionals and technicians throughout projects to complete project documents/plans on schedule to the complete satisfaction of our clients,
      • Support the professional development of staff with transportationplanning skills and interests; and,
      • Serve as an effective client manager or point of contact and foster teaming relationships with other consulting firms.
Related transportation planning services range from corridor, city-wide, complete streets and station area planning, conceptual engineering, environmental compliance, transportation alternatives and other problem solving efforts as required by opur clients Responsibilities include:
      • In collaboration with the Area Manager, leading business development and promotional activities
      • Working with transportation clients and agencies to identify and develop pursuits
      • Preparing scopes and fee estimates and negotiating with clients
      • Defining scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating planning projects
      • Participating in negotiations with clients
      • Monitoring work progress and managing projects for budget compliance, deadlines and quality control.
      • Hiring, mentoring and developing technical staff.
      • Managing project schedules, budgets and staff
      • Coordinating preparation of technical reports and project deliverables
      • Providing periodic project status reports to Area Manager
