WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking a Lead Traction Power Engineer for mass transit, light rail and commuter/intercity rail systems to work in the Newark, NJ office. The selected candidate will work within a team environment to design traction power and related systems for greenfield and brownfield transit sites.

Job Duties Include:
      • Interact with engineers from other companies as well as transit authorities and heavy rail entities on traction power systems designs and interfaces to subsystems external to traction power systems
      • Develop initial design concepts and labor estimates for proposals
      • Travel to customer sites to gain an understanding of project requirements
      • Create and provide presentations of traction power system and associated systems designs to customers
In-house projects include:
      • Minneapolis Southwest Light Rail System: Design through Final Engineering for traction power substations and load flow simulation
      • MNR New Haven Rail Yard: Design through Final Engineering for a new east end connection from the yard to the mainline
      • NJ Transit County Yard: Design through 100% design for the upgrade of existing substation, load flow simulation and sectionalization of yard and mainline tracks
      • Second Avenue Subway Construction Management: Providing construction management support for the construction of the extension of the Second Avenue Subway to 96 th Street

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or an equivalent documented degree from a foreign university
Experience/Skills Required:
      • The successful candidate will have 7 to 10 years of power system design experience with an emphasis on traction power design for mass transit and heavy rail
      • Experience with engineering design on at least three transit or commuter/intercity rail projects
      • Must be proficient in the use of Computer Software such as Word, Excel, MathCad, and other commonly used software for ac Power System analysis
      • Good written and verbal communications skills and understanding of English Language
      • Experience with MicroStation/AutoCAD and the development of circuit and cable drawings
      • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications
Desired Qualifications:
      • Experience with dc Traction Power Systems software
      • PE certification
      • MS in Electrical Engineering
      • Experience with load flow simulation software package
      • Functional knowledge of MATLAB or equivalent software package

The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately. Candidates located within commuting distance of the Newark NJ Office location are preferred.
