We are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer (Buyer III) to work at our Toronto site. The Senior Buyer position within our Procurement team will be responsible for a wide variety of functions critical to the continued success and effectiveness of the business.

We are looking for an individual that has worked in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated successes in Strategic Sourcing, New Product Introduction, Supplier Performance Measurement, Cost Reductions, Negotiations, VA/VE, Project Management and Supply Chain Management, all of which maximizes the site’s overall goals.

The Senior Buyer will also be responsible for:
  • Managing the supply, storage, transport and distribution of equipment, materials and goods used and produced by us.
  • Ensuring all products and services are procured on time with right quality at most competitive value
  • Ensuring processes and procedures are performed in a compliant manner (DOA, Lead times, purchase requisitions)
  • Generating orders in accordance with ERP/MRP and/or customer requirements Processes requisitions through to purchase orders as required for indirect materials or service requirements
  • Managing daily systems, processes and procedures governing the end to end process of the procurement of materials from the right suppliers, at the right price, quality and delivery requirements
  • Providing information and statistics with regard to purchasing activities
  • Managing all supplier non-conformances and obtaining preventative actions
  • Providing analytics as required to include impact of changes on price, FX, waterfall analysis, overall activity levels, savings tracking
  • Ensuring compliance with the 3 quote or 3 quote exemption form process to support indirect or regionally based purchases
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the company suppliers in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest standard of professionalism
  • Negotiating regional contracts, agreements and letters of intent to obtain favorable price, terms and conditions for products and services
  • Evaluating supplier performance (price, OTD, lead time); and preparing feedback and administering improvement programs with QA


The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, and 5 years’ experience in sourcing/supply chain management/ New Product Introduction support with IT system knowledge
  • Experience with purchasing Metal, Plastic and Electronics components preferred
  • Spend management experience of a minimum of: $30mm with 1600-2000 SKUs
  • Proven project management experience, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Solid understanding of MRP and demand-pull scheduling practices is desired (BaaN experience preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – must know Excel
  • Strong Verbal & Written Communication skills
  • Strong work ethic required
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, high initiative, ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and prioritize while being self-directed is a must
  • Must also have a professional attitude exercising interpersonal savvy, confidentiality, demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse environment with appropriate sense of urgency and drive for results
Technical Skills
Advanced ERP knowledge, system skills, and report generation capability
