We operate a Agile/Scrum methodology and you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, developing solutions using the latest technologies. Main duties of the position
Primary Objective: To provide software engineering leadership and direction and to design and develop mission critical applications and systems
Design and define architectures for complex software based systems Act as Software Design Authority who can communicate risks and impacts of design changes to technical and none technical stakeholders Key contributor & independent reviewer at gate & design reviews Design and develop product functionality, user interfaces and performance improvements Act as lead engineer for large scale software development programs ensuring efficient use & deployment of software resources High competency in use of software patterns and other design methodologies. Identify and resolve issues related to tool, process and environment selection Keep abreast of relevant technology changes and plan for new technology insertion Lead and grow the engineering team Responsible for personal development of team members
The suitable candidate must have demonstrable experience in a leading engineering role on projects of significant size and complexity and extensive skills in two or more of the following:
•Experience Working with Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery models
•Experience with high performance distributed systems
•Experience of Data Analytics and Visualization
•Experience of Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Spark)
•Experience in secure development techniques and tools that produce secure systems
•Understanding of virtualization (e.g. VMWare and Hyper-V)
•Experience of PKI and encryption techniques
•Good interpersonal skills for customer liaison
•Good written and oral communication skills
•Good time management, organization and prioritization skills
•An inquisitive mind and a desire to promote innovation
•A desire to learn and constantly expand your horizons
•Ability to work closely with others in a small team
•Ability to work under pressure
•High degree of initiative and flexibility
•Willingness to travel if required
Relevant Computer Science related Bachelor's Degree essential and evidence of ongoing professional development.
We are looking for individuals, with extensive demonstrable professional experience within the field of software systems architecture. Experience of software development in a Government project background would be an advantage. A broad knowledge of Information Security "best practice" would also be useful.
