General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Linux Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Senior Linux Engineer will analyze, design, develop and test General Dynamics Mission Systems systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional responsibilities include integration of Sonar, Fire Control and Imaging software onto COTS equipment; reading and debugging software; writing system scripts; troubleshooting hardware; and maintaining Linux operating systems. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.
Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
The Senior/Advanced Linux Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in systems engineering or a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least three to six years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of one to four years of related experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
