We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Paralegal with our Corporate Office located in Dallas, TX.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Draft and proofread legal documents
  • Assist in-house counsel in preparing for closings and other corporate activities
  • Maintain minute books for chemical division's foreign entities
  • Correspond with and assist outside counsel in preparing minutes of various corporate board meetings for foreign entities
  • Prepare and respond to regulatory filings required in foreign jurisdictions
  • Assist outside counsel with preparing patent prosecution documents for worldwide patent filings
  • Review, update and manage patent dockets using IP Manager
  • Coordinate timely patent tax annuity payments; maintain accurate payment records
  • Create, maintain and manage physical and electronic patent files
  • Online research using US and foreign patent office websites
  • Produce, organize, index and summarize documents obtained for patent infringement cases
  • Legal and factual research; locate and update matters and documents using InSight, eCounsel, Secretariat, SuperViewer, SharePoint, Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, PACER, Clearwell eDiscovery, SEC EDGAR and Internet sources
  • Assist in preparing for closings and other corporate activities
  • Liaise and coordinate with OPC Legal department company-wide as appropriate
  • Document, manage records and review transactional/contract-related information
  • Assist in responding to requests for information from governmental regulatory agencies

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Prior Paralegal or Legal Assistant experience is a plus; preferably including transactional/contract/corporate experience
  • Strong organizational skills necessary (i.e. project management, prioritizing workload, and meeting deadlines)
  • Current use of MS Word for legal document preparation strongly preferred
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with initiative and ability to seek guidance when necessary
  • Flexibility to work some overtime
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment, interact with all levels of the organization, and work effectively with outside counsel
  • Strong computer skills needed in MS Word; Excel; and PowerPoint
  • Experience in SharePoint, Lexis Nexis, Insight, SEC EDGAR and other government document retrieval systems and eCounsel /Secretariat is a plus
