With bipartisan agreement on the Renewable Energy Target and the subsequent project investments underway, there has never been a more exciting time to be in the renewable industry.

AECOM's Power Generation & Industrial business in Australia is seeking to expand its team in Sydney. We are looking for an electrical engineer with experience in the energy sector, who has a passion for technical excellence and enjoys the challenge of delivering multi-faceted energy projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to be actively involved in innovative and highly motivated team of energy professionals and be instrumental in delivering landmark projects throughout Australia and South East Asia.

As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical leadership and management of these projects. To be successful in this role you will:
  • Contribute to the delivery of power generation, industrial, transmission and distribution projects in Australia and overseas.
  • Provide technical engineering support (strong electrical engineering focus) with a particular emphasis on industrial, wind, solar and battery energy sectors
  • Undertake a variety of roles including Technical Advisor, Design Engineer, Owner's Engineer and Design Manager
  • Provide key support to the team in delivering high quality and on time technical services and to establish and maintain a client base and working relationships
  • Accept personal responsibility for the performance of assigned tasks, to be proactive and display initiative
  • Work proactively as part of the Generation and Industrial Team including providing support to colleagues in other AECOM offices across the region and overseas.

Minimum Requirements
  • 5 years' experience in similar roles
  • Experience working in a professional services consulting environment
  • Experience in the areas of design, engineering and project management relevant to power generation and transmission & distribution required. Ideally would be competent in:
    • Load Flow studies (including electrical loss calculations) and Network Fault studies
    • Protection system design and principles specific to generating and industrial plants
    • Conductor sizing (Underground and Overhead) and optimisation design
    • Utility scale solar electrical design (AC and DC)
    • Earthing design and other safety aspects
    • SCADA implementation philosophy of generating plant (Wind and Solar)
    • Knowledge of prevailing Australian and IEC standards for electrical equipment and good electricity supply industry practice
    • Wind turbine generator operation principles
    • Familiarity with National Electricity Rules relating to connection of generators
    • Understanding of technical risks in wind and solar farm projects
    • Familiarity with Power systems software such as Power Factory, PSS/E, PSCADD, or equivalent is preferred
