About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.
AECOM has one of the world's largest specialist Acoustics, Noise and Vibration teams, with approximately 50 full time specialists in the UK and over 200 worldwide.
We are currently looking to expand the team by recruiting an experienced Building Acoustics Consultant to join our Nottingham office.
As a member of our Acoustics team you can expect to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects, from new education and healthcare schemes to some of the biggest projects in the UK. Recent and current projects include Battersea Power Station, North West Cambridge, the new Defence Technical Training College, Avon and Somerset Police PFI contract, Crossrail station design and new training facilities at RAF Marham.
This post offers excellent career and Continuous Professional Development opportunities in a large, friendly and well established Acoustics Team supporting one of the world's largest integrated engineering, construction and technical services organisations.
The position will mainly be based in the UK focusing on the Midlands, however, there may be the need to visit sites across the UK and work away from home for short periods, including overseas.
The successful candidate will:
be expected to support the existing team by contributing to the acoustic input, predictions, modelling and report writing on a range of projects;
have a good understanding and practical experience of building acoustics projects in particular, although knowledge of environmental acoustics would also be a distinct advantage;
be proficient with a range of software, including noise software such as Insul, CATT, and NA well as Microsoft Office, Word and Excel;
be confident with a range of acoustics and vibration measurement and analysis systems;
be conversant with relevant standards and guidance, especially those relating to building acoustics, such as Approved Document E, BB93, HTM 08-01, BS8233 amongst others;
have experience of sound insulation testing of buildings;
have proven report writing skills and good interpersonal skills;
be expected to liaise directly with consultees and clients; and
most importantly have enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a dedication to work as part of a team.

Previous relevant consultancy experience in the field of building acoustics
Proven ability to deliver client expectations to budget and timescale.
Excellent technical report writing, personal organization and communication skills required.
Client liaison experience and the ability to communicate complex acoustic issues to non-technical people.
Candidate must be flexible and willing to undertake out of hours work on occasion and away from home for short periods of time.
Experience of acoustic prediction using both spreadsheets and industry recognized software.
Full clean driving licence
Experience in various types of acoustics and vibration measurements and testing
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, able to work in a team and the ability to get on with others.
Skills in computer-aided design software packages particularly AutoCAD
Industrial and environmental acoustics experience also an advantage
Ideally MSc/BSc in Acoustics/Noise and Vibration or associated discipline.
Preferably MIOA, but AMIOA considered
IOA Diploma in Acoustics advantageous
