Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a full-time Office Engineer in the New York, New York office location.

This position is part of the Construction Management team on the MTA Capital Construction East Side Access Project, a multi-billion dollar rail improvement project improving mobility within the Long Island Transportation Corridor-specifically commuter rail access between Long Island and the East Side of Midtown Manhattan. A variety of office engineering tasks as needed, including: evaluating construction progress, review of invoice documentation and remedying open issues.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Review and processing of contractor's progress payments; correspondence, and document management/control systems
  • Review contractor submittal list to ensure submittals are submitted as planned to allow enough review time prior to performance of the work
  • Maintain Submittal, 'RFI, FCR, NCR and DR logs and related tracking systems in conjunction with Project Engineer and Lead QE
  • Track submittal stakeholders, including railroads
  • Research construction issues and claims, developing correspondence, and maintaining payment summary logs. Assists in weekly and monthly reporting
  • Supervise office supply ordering and items delivered by Contract (as per specification section 01520)
  • Coordinate with Lead Inspector and Project Engineer regarding field office drawing controls, including assurance that Contract drawing sets and as-built record drawings are current
  • Assist contract Administrator in developing, reviewing and analyzing documentation required for contract modifications
  • In conjunction with Project Engineer verify submittals are complete and in accordance with Contract Specifications before sending for review by GEC or others
  • Prepare Off-Hour Notification
  • Attend meetings as required and develop meeting minutes with follow-up actions

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of responsible experience in construction/systems, or other relevant equivalent experience
  • Strong PC skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and contract management software.)
  • Field engineering/inspection skills required. Needs background in means and methods of civil construction techniques
  • "Weekend and Night Shift work possible"

Preferred Qualifications
  • Civil Construction background preferred
  • Experience in major construction projects preferred
