The Program
Here is your opportunity to work on the first ever high-speed rail program in the U.S. while growing your career on a groundbreaking project. The California High-Speed Rail program will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.

The Role
The California High Speed Rail Authority has awarded WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff the Program Management role within the Rail Delivery Partners (RDP) program delivery team. As a result we have an immediate opportunity for a Right-of-Way Engineer, reporting to the Senior Land Surveyor and based out of our Fresno program office. The principal duties of the role are:

      • Complete high-level assignments while applying standard surveying and Right-of-Way Engineering practice to support large transportation and development projects, to include analyzing situations accurately and adopting an effective course of action, interpreting legal descriptions of real property, and interpreting survey calculations
      • Prepare project scope and cost proposals for those assignments, assisting in the planning, directing and coordinating the work of a group of survey or right of way engineering personnel
      • Generally providing surveying and Right-of-Way Engineering services including coordination and preparation of appraisal maps and legal descriptions
      • Perform QC of surveying and Right-of-Way Engineering deliverables with regards to accuracy, current standards, and legal requirements
      • Researching, compiling, and interpreting evidence and documentation for boundary determination
      • Represent WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff at various industry events
      • Entering, tracking, reviewing and assigning tasks through the Authority's database

Job Requirements
The Requirements
The requirements of the role are:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Science, Land Surveying or a similar, relevant discipline, or at least ten years of experience in lieu
      • At least two years of experience as a Right-of-Way Engineer or Surveyor
      • Proficiency with CADD programs and specifically MicroStation for mapping and drafting purposes
      • Working knowledge and understanding of design-build projects
      • Some design experience or experience with design-build projects is a plus
      • Licensed Surveyor status preferred
      • Demonstrated capability in applying independent judgment and decision-making skills to support, scoping, costing, supervising and project management functions
      • The ability to work in the United States immediately is required, local candidates preferred
