TIS Technician

About the role

We are currently looking for a talented TIS Technician to join our Dartmouth team.

  • Perform installation and verification activities on Fire Alarm related equipment for small and large installations, including installing modules to terminating zone /circuit wiring
  • Perform inspections on different types of fire alarm panels
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must participate in on call rotation
  • Service panels with minimal supervision
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications.
  • Complete verification and inspections reports for submittal to customers and carry out system acceptance tests with AHJ’s and other interested parties
  • Complete as Built drawings on the completion of the job as needed
  • Participate in the Tyco Integrated Fire & Security online/classroom training programs as detailed by the Supervisor
  • Must maintain a high degree of quality work and organization
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of various product/Building and fire code
  • Identify and sell basic product enhancements to customers
  • Must be able to supervise junior technicians both on a technical and non-technical level

Who we're looking for
  • 2 or more years of experience in the Fire Protection industry
  • Completion of a Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable of provincial building & fire codes for inspection proposes
  • Proficient in the use of computers, including DOS, and Windows operating systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation and routine details
  • Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Strong communication skills and customer service focus
