About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
The Environmental Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Transportation Project Manager for immediate hire in the Denver, CO office. We are looking for an energetic individual that wants to advance his or her career with one of the premiere environmental planning and permitting groups in the region. We are looking to expand our group with a leader that can drive our team and transportation practice providing environmental services with energy and enthusiasm. The team is currently working on planning and permitting projects in the Rocky Mountain region as well as projects across the United States.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Being self-sufficient regarding team management, client development and project pursuit opportunities
  • Being the key to the environmental team that provides services to public and private clients, this may include Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) studies
  • NEPA for DOT/FHWA; local, state, and federal permitting through a variety of agencies; and agency consultation with key regulators
  • Marketing and growing the business and client base
  • Planning and permitting work for the public sector
  • Managing projects for complex, technical regulatory-driven projects for clients in the transportation market sector
  • Working with environmental scientists (e.g., air, noise, socioeconomics, and other physical resources), natural and cultural specialists, planners, other project managers and support staff across multiple teams, departments and offices
  • Working with and mentoring staff
  • Being a vital part of project and study teams focused on surface transportation (roadway, transit, bicycle and pedestrian) studies for clients such as: CDOT, FHWA, Central Federal Lands, RTD, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, as well as county and city transportation agencies
  • Strengthening the collaboration amongst individuals in other teams, departments and offices

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental or planning fields (Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences or equivalent degree)
  • 10 years of experience working with local, state, or federal permitting requirements such as NEPA, including project management or related experience; experience can be with public and/or private clients
  • Incumbent should be able to demonstrate the ability to obtain repeat business through the successful execution of the project work and must be able to demonstrate a quality and client satisfaction focus
  • Experience with environmental impact documentation, permitting or infrastructure improvement projects
  • Experience winning and executing planning and permitting transportation projects
  • Knowledgeable about financial management, budgeting and scheduling
  • Ability to manage client expectations, project staff and technical issues
  • Knowledgeable in the project management, public involvement program management and technical oversight during planning, through the construction phase of a project
  • Experience managing project staff of 10 to 20 professionals in the area of delivery, exhibiting a proven ability in leading and developing project teams for key project pursuit, execution, and strength in collaborating with peers for the mutual benefit of all project parties and stakeholders
  • This position requires successful completion of the AECOM Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hire
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • AICP Certified (Certified Environmental Planner)
