Scott Safety is a well-established, leading brand in the Life Safety Industry with revenue of approximately $450 million dollars and 1100 employees with five manufacturing sites. Scott Safety specializes in respiratory protection devices including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), gas and flame detection products and personal protective equipment (PPE). Main end use markets include Fire Services, Military and Civil Defense, Petro-Chemical Oil and Gas, Marine and general industrial markets.

This position is responsible for leading the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Project Management Office (PMO). The position is based in Scott Safety's global headquarters in Monroe, North Carolina located near Charlotte, NC. Scott Safety is a well established leading brand in the Life Safety Industry with revenue of approximately $450 million dollars and 1100 employees with five manufacturing NA position will lead a global functional organization of highly skilled technical professionals and report to the VP & GM of the Products Divisions.

The successful candidate will possess significant engineering, business, finance, technical project management, and leadership experience to establish and build a high performing program management group, which will increase the effectiveness of strategic Program and Project management for the business.

Job Responsibilities:
• Builds and leads the team of technical program and project managers capable of effectively executing strategic programs for business projects. Provides direction and guidance to program and project managers to ensure successful planning and execution of PMO managed initiatives.
• Provides program and project coaching and advisory services to improve organizational capability in delivering program and project results.
• Ensures continuous process/system improvement associated with program and project tools in order to achieve greater efficiency and productivity across the organization.
• Partners with key service, technology, and business leaders to plan, forecast, and prioritize program management resource needs.
• Ensures skilled staff is assigned to meet planned program and project demand.
• Maintains and evolves key performance metrics for the PMO and measures organization effectiveness.
• Works to continuously improve performance against metrics and increase the value of services delivered to the business.
• Maintain oversight of robust process and controls to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and Johnson Controls' business policies
• Hire, develop and retain a team

Qualifications and Professional Experiences:
• Highly skilled technical professional with a demonstrated track record of leadership at a high level in complex organizations.
• Minimum of five years technical program management experience in a global technology based organization
• Developed leadership skills establishing a global PMO organization with a culture and work environment characterized by high employee engagement, collaboration and teaming.
• Effective and persuasive communication and presentation skills
• Understanding of the cross-functional relationships between inter-company groups and the expertise required for project or program completion
• Experience managing business process development, planning, and negotiations
• Ability to partner at all levels of the organization
• Negotiation skills and ability to resolve problems
• A demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking and planning as well as tactical implementation.
• Familiarity with organizational practices of multi-national companies operating in a matrix organization structure
Education And Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) in engineering from a four-year college or university with a minimum of 5 years experience leading and directing people and projects is required.
Masters degree (M.A., M.B.A., M.S.) or equivalent level of professional certification desired, but not required.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly desired.
