WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is looking for exceptional candidates for the position of Traffic Engineer II for our Raleigh, North Carolina office. This individual will primarily be helping with various traffic engineering tasks on transportation projects. The primary responsibility of the Traffic Engineer II may include:
      • Traffic operations, capacity analysis, and simulation modeling.
      • Traffic forecasting and demand modeling.
      • Traffic signal, signing, marking, and MOT design.
      • Transportation planning.
      • Other traffic engineering and related roles.

Additional responsibilities may include the analysis of traffic operations, particularly related to temporary work zones, using a variety of modeling tools ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models in order analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments.

The Traffic Engineer II position is designed to allow candidates to put their academic skills, job knowledge and abilities beyond entry level to perform tasks of moderate complexity using professional judgment. By working closely with professional supervisors, this position will help the candidate grow into a senior level professional with progressively increasing responsibilities. Over the years, staff in the Charlotte and Raleigh offices have worked on projects locally in North Carolina, as well as projects all over the United States. The candidate for current position will have similar opportunities.

Job Requirements
      • BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, An MS degree will be a plus
      • The successful candidate should possess at least four (4) years of experience or equivalent working knowledge/experience in the field of civil engineering
      • An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate is desirable
      • Experience with NCDOT Roadway, Work Zone Traffic Control, and Congestion Management standards is preferred
      • Basic comprehension of traffic engineering software including HCS+, Synchro/Sim Traffic, CORSIM, TransModeler, or VISSIM preferred
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Power Point at a minimum
      • The candidate must be able to work in the United States on a full time permanent basis immediately
