Public Works Director (Contingency Hire)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Public Works (PW) Director is responsible for the full scope of KBR's responsibility regarding engineering, maintenance, operations and quality management programs supporting the Navy on Diego Garcia. The PW Director shall ensure both prime and subcontractors abide by program, contractual and industrial standards/best practices, where required, which meet the requirements of this contract. This individual shall be sole administrator of the KBR's/subcontractor's Public Works program(s) (Annexes 15 through 18), having full authority and responsibility for assuring performance objectives and standards are met. Furthermore, duties include (1) supervising exempt and non-exempt personnel including skilled trade labor, (2) providing oversight and guidance on technical matters, (3) managing costs, budget, and schedule; providing customer liaison and service, and (4) ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient asset operations.

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Engineering science or related field (physics, chemistry), based on a four-year course of study from a U.S. or U.K. accredited college, university or equivalent institution or eight (8) years of equivalent work experience
  • CERTIFICATIONS: Professional Engineer License issued by a U.S. state or territory in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
  • EXPERIENCE; Ten (10) years' experience as a manager in a multi-discipline environment comparable to that offered under this contract. Experience in a military environment is desired
  • ABILITIES: The candidate must be a self-starter capable of working in a fast paced multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve team goals. Proven management skills to include effective planning, organizing, directing and controlling with strong decision making capabilities. Excellent analytical skills - data driven, fact based, root cause focused. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to lead a team to consensus. Understanding of litigation and claims processes and experience with legal communities. Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and listening. Ability to interact with staff at all levels from craftpersons to senior executives. Knowledge base to successfully diagnosis issues that cover multiple areas of interaction.

  • Active Secret Clearance with at least 12 months remaining validity
  • Fluent in English language
  • Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
  • Must possess driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
