Based out of our Basingstoke or Reading site, we are looking for a flexible, self-motivated, tenacious and customer focused Regional HR Advisor to join the HR team on a Fixed Term Contract basis for up to 12 months with a view to becoming permanent. The purpose of the role is to support the South and South West Region and utilise your practical experience and expertise in providing Employee Relations advice and promoting sound employee relations (ER) across the organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring fair and consistent application of policy and process through the provision of advice and guidance to the employee, line manager and the wider HR population on a variety of ER issues. In addition to ER related tasks you will also support senior management with project implementation to achieve our functional objectives and HR strategy.

This is a field-based role and will require you to support a range of business units across a broad geographical area. Although primarily based within a region you will have the opportunity to provide HR support to other UK sites. If you are someone who is business facing, flexible, likes to travel and enjoys overnight stays then this would be ideal for you.

Key duties and responsibilities.
  • Run ER cases, including grievance and disciplinary, absence, performance management and flexible working.
  • Using your self-motivation, drive and positivity, you will resolve cases in accordance with Thales policy and procedure within agreed SLAs and with a high degree of autonomy. Provide sound ER guidance and coaching to line managers both face to face and remotely to improve people management skills.
  • Work harmoniously with the central HR Advisory team in Crawley to ensure a seamless handover of cases and take responsibility for resolving complex issues.
  • Ensure all cases are detailed accurately and recorded in the case management system.
  • Work collaboratively with HR teams to ensure updates to UK policy and procedure are shared and applied effectively across the business.
  • Identify and define areas of improvement and support the implementation of change.
  • Provide project implementation support cross functionally. Projects could be related to change, TUPE, restructures, acquisitions and changes to terms and conditions.
Key skills and experience required:
  • Working towards CIPD qualification.
  • ER case management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing employment law, legislation and HR policy.
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of HR projects.
  • Able to design and deliver HR policy and documentation.
  • Experience in a multi-site role or in a matrix engineering or technical environment is desirable.
  • Experience operating in a unionised environment and with union reps is desirable.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent written communication skills with acute attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent relationship building, influencing and communication skills.
  • UK Drivers licence is required due to the travel required.
