About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary
Our Civil Infrastructure team are involved in delivering the most exciting city shaping projects for road, rail, ports, airports, water, urban development and defence. Our teams often lead large, complex multi-discipline projects requiring collaboration across AECOM teams in Environment, Buildings & Places, Resources, Power & Industry and Construction Services sectors as well as with specialist teams in civil & structures, planning & advisory, water, ground engineering, asset management, digital engineering, sustainability, and renewable energy.

Due to recent project wins in our Civil Infrastructure business, we are excited to be growing our Water team. We are seeking to make a Professional Engineer level appointment in Sydney to grow our water and wastewater planning practice which includes services in master planning, growth servicing, network planning, strategic planning for both water, wastewater and recycled water networks, detailed planning for a growing portfolio of large infrastructure projects and integrated planning for urban development and growth corridor projects for developer and utility clients.

You will be a part of our industry leading water and wastewater planning business and assist in the delivery of complex, large scale projects that provide great outcomes for our clients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Working within a team to deliver integrated planning, strategic network planning, detailed network planning/hydraulic modelling and network design focused projects
  • Water demand and sewer load forecasting, current and future network performance analysis, options development, risk assessment, cost estimating and reporting
  • Water network design including pumped and gravity flow hydraulics and analysis (both steady state and transient), pumping station, pipework mechanical and civil pipeline design
  • Collaborating with AECOM colleagues as part of project delivery including within design, environment, geotechnical, community consultation, advisory, asset and information management
  • Engaging with clients in the water and other water-related markets such as land development, local and state government as in major urban water utilities, regional authorities etc.
  • Delivery of high-quality and timely technical outputs that meets with client expectations
  • Proactive in project delivery to maintain high performing, engaged and supportive team culture
  • Support to proposals and general business development activities

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree civil, environmental or mechanical engineering, or demonstrate equivalent.
  • More than five years of experience in the water industry including the private and/or public sectors
  • Core technical skills associated with water and sewer infrastructure, particularly in the network planning environment and including hydraulic modelling (using various software) i.e. InfoWorks, H2O Map, MIKE Urban, and Bentley suite
  • Network planning and design experience that demonstrates the development and evaluation of options to arrive at a preferred solution - water, recycled water and/or sewer
  • Takes the initiative to learn from others around them, and apply learning's on the job.
  • A passion for achieving excellence in the water industry and a team player
  • Builds positive rapport with internal and external clients, follows through on client inquiries, requests, and issues; proactively, diligently and promptly works to resolve problems and issues
  • Completes concurrent activities according to assigned priorities and without reducing productivity
