Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM's multi award-winning Transactions & Compliance Team provides an expert service to a broad industrial client base. We help our clients achieve compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation through the provision of an experienced industrial environmental compliance team with substantial cross-sector experience. Our particular strengths are in Environmental Permitting (EP) including BAT assessments and options appraisals, Due Diligence (DD), EHS compliance auditing and sustainability assessments for a wide range of industrial clients.

AECOM requires an experienced environmental and compliance professional to play a key role in delivering our Transactions and Compliance service offering. As a Project Consultant you will manage, steer and deliver environmental (and leading into health & safety) compliance proposals and projects, and EHS technical Due Diligence projects. You may also be required to help deliver EMS projects and to provide support to our sister teams such as the Soil & Groundwater, and Corporate Sustainability teams.

The candidate will assume the role of project manager as required, co-ordinating with internal teams, other project disciplines and clients. It is expected that the successful candidate will take responsibility for appropriate commercial targets and client relationship development.

There is also a requirement to act as a technical mentor to others within the team in relation to compliance technical knowledge and behaviours etc. The position will support the T&C management team by taking on a senior technical delivery role. Line management of junior staff may be required in the future.

The position is based in Leeds, however other AECOM office locations will be considered for the right candidate. There will be a requirement to travel within the UK and occasional travel overseas.

Minimum Requirements
To be successful in this role we're looking for Candidates with the following:

Substantial relevant experience in undertaking Environmental Permitting work for a wide range of industrial facilities and sectors (e.g. oil & gas, power, chemicals, heavy engineering, food & drink), e.g. working in industry, as a consultant or as a regulator.
A working knowledge and experience of delivery COMAH compliance projects and air dispersion modelling competence would be advantageous but is not essential.
Proven project manager with ability to manage the financial and technical aspects of single or multi-site projects.
Extensive knowledge of the application of UK National and European Environmental legislation with regards to Environmental Permitting / Industrial Emissions Directive, in particular its application in the UK.
Extensive demonstrable experience of having delivered Environmental Permitting projects including permit applications, BAT assessments and options appraisals, permit variation and surrender applications, Site Condition Reports, and the provision of on-going permitting support (e.g. coordinating air emissions monitoring and reporting to an appropriate range of industrial sectors.
Excellent knowledge of quantitative Environmental Impact Assessment and Industrial Pollution Control techniques.
Ability to critically review and understand technical data and identify the most appropriate approach to meet the relevant requirements of the Environment Permitting Regulations / Industrial Emissions Directive for that particular issue / installation.
Ability to engage in technical discussions with clients regarding Permitting issues and potential solutions relevant to the respective Installation, including good listening skills and the ability to discuss potential options, solutions and constraints in a professional and non-conflicting manner.
Excellent report writing skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to produce accurate, succinct reports and professionally present findings and recommendations to the client or regulator.
Excellent inter-personal skills for interaction with colleagues, clients and regulators.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Proven demonstrable experience of meeting deadlines.
Efficient and effective team working skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Appropriately degree qualified with a relevant Masters.
Membership of a recognised professional organisation is desirable.
Chartered Engineer or equivalent preferable.
Project management qualifications / documented training desirable.
