Based in Baltimore, Maryland, you will be responsible for enabling maintenance to identify business improvement opportunities. You will apply business process improvement techniques such as business planning, Lean manufacturing and maintenance as well as Quality methodologies to assess, improve and govern the operational performance of the project. You will manage all fleet maintenance and repair quality assurance activities including auditing of maintenance records, auditing of vehicles off inspection, employee technical competency and skill evaluations, review of failure analysis documentation, validation of maintenance regime effectiveness, regulatory compliance and support effort at the site and department level to improve equipment reliability.

In your role you will:

  • Actively seek process and quality improvements in the project at all levels. Including developing, facilitating and leading Kiazen's. Teaching Lean and Quality methodologies to executives, managers, supervisors and unionized shop staff. Auditing the quality systems of the project to ensure compliance;
  • Undertake investigations of repeat high profile rail equipment failures with our Reliability Engineer team focusing on root cause, trends, design, maintenance practices, materials and training. You will make fact based recommendations on improving Safety, Quality and Fleet Reliability;
  • Join with the site management team to create and implement a business improvement plan to enable the creation of standardized processes that ensure smooth, uninterrupted maintenance, improved product quality and improve Safety, Quality and Productivity;
  • Drive improvement in productivity and efficiency of Maintenance processes and Business processes through the installation and management of appropriate tools and processes to assess, improve and accurately monitor performance;
  • Enable a culture of Lean Thinking at the project from all aspects of Safety, Production, Quality and Service. Provide the maintenance teams with support regarding the elimination of process waste utilizing dynamic problem solving techniques.


As our ideal candidate:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Continuous Improvement or related field ;
  • You possess Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a similar position;
  • You cumulate experience in best practice rail industry fleet management and maintenance techniques or continuous improvement background in an engineering or manufacturing environment;
  • You have advanced knowledge of Business Improvement techniques and their application to achieve bottom line growth;
  • You possess solid understanding of the application of Kaizen methodology;
  • Your knowledge of LEAN including any certifications such as Black Belt, Green Belt etc. will be considered as an asset;
  • You have excellent English communication skills.
