Job title: Operations Engineer

Reporting to: Field Line Manager

Job summary: To install either Intruder Alarms, CCTV and Fire Alarm Systems to the relevant standards and to provide the highest level of customer service through the maximisation of resources and sensitivity to costs and budgets. Responsible for undertaking service and preventative maintenance works.

• Engineer Productivity Quality of worth right first time, Installations achieved against hours from SAI.
• Service & Maintenance with first time fix.
Typical decisions

• Identification of problem areas when installing systems.
• To ensure that the installation or modification meets customer, health & safety and statutory requirements.

• Flexibility to adapt working hours to meet with customer requirements.
• Geographical area of responsibility with occasional travel across areas and the UK.
• Key contacts include but are not limited to: Field Line manager - day to day reporting. Sales Consultants - to review opportunities from existing or new business, Branch Admin, Eternal Customers, Builders, Surveyors etc.


• Provide excellent Customer Service to meet the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers
• To install the appropriate devices; dismantle and reconstruct equipment as required by the customer or ADT. Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contact customer prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
• Prepare estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
• Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures. Test operation of system to the signal-receiving centre to properly establish service.
• Report any changes, deficiencies or deviations in systems to supervisor.
• Correctly complete Engineer work reports, handover certificates/BSIA Certificates or checklist as appropriate.
• Promote ADT's image at all times.
• Any other duties in line with the post.
• As part of a team of Engineers to carry out inspection and maintenance work to the relevant standards.
• Diagnosis and fault repair.
• Liaise with the service bureau in line with the Company requirements.
• Accurate completion of paperwork and Mobile Data Device according to work instructions and codes of practice.
• To maintain stocks of materials and tools carried in vehicles in line with Company standards.
• To look after company assets.
• Promote and identify sales opportunities through the Engineer lead scheme in order to achieve budgeted revenue.
• To effectively interface with other Company departments to ensure the best level of service is supplied to the customer.
• Report and record any major incidents and customer complaints through the appropriate procedures, ensuring swift resolution wherever possible.
• To ensure all aspects of health and safety requirements are complied with.
• Comply with the Company quality management system and industry standards.
• To be available to participate in the Company's emergency call out rota in line with the agreed rota that may be in force at any time.

• Must possess sound electrical knowledge and have proven background through recognised apprenticeship or hold similar qualification.
• Knowledge of the British Standard BS4737 (Intruder) or BS5839 (Fire).
• Must hold a full clean driving licence.
• Ability to lift, carry and climb ladders. To carry equipment, ie; cameras etc up and down ladders ensuring conformance to health and safety requirements.
• Ability to use power tools to repair and / or dismantle equipment.


• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
• Recognised qualification within a technical area (desirable).
