Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level OCS Engineer I for employment in the New York, NY office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. Under the charge of a Professional Engineer:
  • Performing assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Preparing engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
  • Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
  • Exercising limited judgment to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Preparing calculations requiring the application of relevant codes and standards
  • Working in AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • Participating in project working meetings and take meeting minutes
  • Assisting with cost estimating for design and construction
  • Assisting with responding to construction submittals
  • Assisting with inspections at project sites (around the country)
  • Editing and formatting technical reports and specifications
  • Ad hoc tasks, including assisting our Traction Power Engineers

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil engineering or other related field required
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation or other CAD software
  • Interest in Electrified Rail Transportation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to travel, less than 10% of time
  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position may have to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
  • Must possess valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training(EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
  • Experience with steel, concrete, and foundation design
  • Experience applying design codes
  • Experience conducting research
  • Experience with industry standard analysis software, specifically SAP, RISA-3D, LPile
  • Technical report writing
  • Coding with VBA (Visual Basic)
  • Basic understanding of simple electrical circuits
