We address the complete spectrum of energy challenges, including clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon management, hydropower and dams, thermal, geothermal and wind power generation, and transmission and distribution.

Job Summary

Our Civil & Structural engineers work closely within design teams to ensure that the projects we create together perform sustainably and holistically to meet the brief and budget. Increasingly we work with other internal business lines such as architecture, environment, transportation and our own project managers to provide a one stop solution to our clients and their projects.

We wish to recruit an experienced graduate engineer to our Bristol offices who can bring passion and flair to our work and have a real interest in improving the built environment. The engineer will join our multidisciplinary team working on a variety of power projects including power station projects including nuclear, hydropower, thermal and energy from waste as well as transmission and distribution projects.

As a Graduate Civil / Structural Engineer based in our Bristol office, you will be involved in the design of structures in reinforced concrete and structural steel.
An important part of the role will be writing structural assessment reports to be used by clients and other members of the team.

You will be expected to be involved with and have:- experience of

  • design methods using a variety of structural materials,
  • practical application of current design software that allows us to deliver design solutions efficiently and effectively,
  • the skills necessary to present our engineering solutions - this will include sketching and an understanding of the use of 3D drawing
  • design of new build as well as decommissioning projects for a range of power plants including nuclear, thermal and renewables
  • working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • civil and structural engineering for energy providers on transmission and distribution projects in the UK & overseas.
We provide training to ensure all our engineers have a full set of design skills and are equipped to engage with the wider design and contractor teams. You will typically be involved in assisting in the development of our projects through the different design stages, attending meetings and workshops with stakeholders including design professionals and operators through to inspections during the construction phase. As our graduates develop they are expected to take on more responsibility in managing projects which in turn leads to more challenges and rewarding career progression

Minimum Requirements
The following attributes and requirements are anticipated in the Intermediate civil & structural engineer we wish to recruit:-
  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent accredited by a professional engineering institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
  • Knowledgeable in finite element and frame analysis software for steel and RC frames, flat slabs, etc.
  • Revit expertise advantageous
  • Desire to build client relationships
  • Possess excellent written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients verbally,
  • A valid driving license for the UK is required
  • Must be eligible to achieve security clearance to handle documents at official sensitive classification.
  • Have suitable work and residency status for the UK
  • Have no travel/Visa restriction for technical visits to Europe, Middle East, Africa and India and the USA
