About the Business Line
Building Engineering
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.

Job Summary
The IT & Communications Group within the Building Engineering Division is currently seeking a full time ICT Consultant / Engineer. This role is to be based in either London or St Albans.

About The Team

The AECOM ITC team is a specialist group within the Building Engineering Division and provides ICT design and support services to complement and enhance the design activities of the Mechanical and Electrical teams. The role covers the design of ITC systems across a wide range of industry sectors including commercial, data centres, education, healthcare, hotels, military and government.

About the offices:

The St. Albans office has an established track record of successfully delivering local and overseas projects. St. Albans is a historic market town in Hertfordshire with excellent transport links, and is only 20 minutes from Central London by train. Our modern office is the largest building engineering hub in the UK for AECOM. Due to recent project wins we are looking to enhance and grow the Buildings team with individuals with a strong technical background that share our enthusiasm and determination.

Our London office is ideally located between the City and West End, in one of the capital's most vibrant and connected districts. We work in modern, open plan, flexible spaces which foster a culture of diversity, creativity and integrated working.

It is the perfect location to further your career, surrounded by the buzz of one of the world's greatest cities. Whilst the majority of the time shall be spent working from AECOM's St Albans & London offices the role will require UK travel supporting other AECOM offices and some overseas travel

Job Responsibilities:

Communication Room design
ITC cabinets
Structured cabling
Telecoms planning
Wireless networks
LAN switch networks

Designs will also need support and interface to other third party Internet Protocol (IP) based technologies including:

Security - CCTV and Access Control
Av and Multimedia including IPTV
Lighting control and other MEP related services

As projects move to a construction phase the role requires site attendance undertaking

Client design team meetings
Site inspections
Test result analysis
Witness testing

Key Role Requirements

The key role requirements described below are described in two parts, those which are deemed minimum requirements of the role and those which are considered to be preferable. It should be noted that these are presented in no particular order of preference and are intended to express the challenges and opportunities provided by this role.

Minimum Requirements
Proven experience designing ITC systems
Passive Structured Cabling and Active LAN networks with solid industry experience. This experience shall be gained during employment either as a consultancy, end user, systems integrator or manufacturer.

Preferred Qualifications
CISCO certified preferred
Qualified to BICSI RCDD or equivalent
