As a senior security architect with Thales you will be working as part of a growing, professional team who are dedicated to providing professional consulting services in cyber security. You will share in the belief that securing people, property and information ensures business continuity and reputation.

We are looking for experienced security architects who hold technical expertise in; secure systems design, assurance, governance & risk, compliance and cyber security strategy. You should have this coupled with experience in the development and management of a diverse portfolio of clients on a consultancy basis.

This is an opportunity for you to support Thales’ clients to survive and thrive in a difficult Cyber Threat environment by providing business focussed technical guidance to organisations to combat these threats. This position will report to the Cyber Security Capability Lead to undertake Cyber Security architect and consultancy tasks for customers in the MoD, Government and Enterprise markets.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

In this role you will enable the design and implementation of secure IS architectures. You will be responsible to a project or product for all the responsibilities of a Security Architect plus:

  • Identify information risks that arise from proposed solution architectures.
  • Design alternate solutions to mitigate identified information risks.
  • Ensure that alternate solutions or countermeasures mitigate identified information risks.
  • Apply 'standard' security techniques and architectures to mitigate security risks.
  • Develop new architectures that mitigate the risks posed by new technologies and business practices.
  • Provide consultancy and advice to customers on IA and architectural problems.
  • Supervise Cyber Security Architects reporting to them.
  • Stakeholder management & development of customer relationships.
  • Provide support to the System architect to derive the high-level system security requirements.
  • Provide interpretation of Security threat analysis and derived security requirements and their interpretation into appropriate security architectures, consistent with the risk profile and cost baselines given.
  • Undertake system architectural analysis and detailed security design.
  • Work Package creation, estimation, planning & tracking.
  • Create Systems Engineering documentation as per Thales SYS-EM methodology.
  • Create security documentation in accordance with appropriate standards (e.g. JSP-440, HMG National Security Standards and guidelines ( IS1 / IS2 etc ), SPF, ISO 27001)
  • Communicate with suppliers / sub-contractors to gather and evaluate evidence of security compliance.
  • Support ITT / PQQ and Bid responses.
  • Must be flexible and be prepared to work on a variety of customer sites and locations as the business demands.

Skills required:

  • Previous experience in Consulting/Professional services in a Cyber Security Architect role.
  • Ability to write concisely in a customer focused manner.
  • Working with challenging deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach and excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage high volumes of work.
  • Proven organisational ability and team player.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent standard of computer literacy in all Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to learn and to work with a diverse range of people at all levels.
  • Knowledge of standard security operating processes and procedures.
  • Pro-active self-starter.
  • Customer focused.
  • Flexible (likely that you will need to work outside core hours).
  • Self-sufficient.


  • CESG Certified IA Professional in one or more security architect roles.
  • Related Degree or Qualification.
  • Proven experience in the cloud security marketplace.

Security Clearance:
In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
