Recreation Services Manager (Contingency Hire)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Recreation Services Manager is responsible for all resale operations and recreational programs. Position duties involve staff training, assigning duties to recreation staff, setting work standards, appraising performance, recognizing, correcting, and assisting with interviews and selections. The Manager plans, organizes, and helps to supervise a diverse and comprehensive fitness and sports facility program which includes group exercise classes, self-directed fitness, sports and aquatics programs, incentive programs, special events, intramurals, and varsity sports, instructional programs and awareness and education programs. Program serves a population of active duty US and international military personnel, US Government civil servants, and contract employees. The position prepares budgets which include the expenditures required to conduct the fitness and sports programs. Ensure sufficient equipment and supplies are available to provide a comprehensive program.

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in one or more areas of appropriate field of recreation, sports management, or physical education
  • CERTIFICATIONS: Certified Life Guard Training Instructor by American Red Cross
  • EXPERIENCE; Five (5) years of specialized experience as NF-4 of a NAFI or as a middle manager in a similar or equivalent capacity in civilian commercial business. Three (3) years' experience in leading and managing a recreation program. Two (2) years' experience in officiating, but not limited to, the following sports: soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, and flag football.
  • ABILITIES: The candidate must be a self-starter capable of working in a fast paced multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve team goals. Proven management skills to include effective planning, organizing, directing and controlling with strong decision making capabilities. Excellent analytical skills - data driven, fact based, root cause focused. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to lead a team to consensus. Understanding of litigation and claims processes and experience with legal communities. Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and listening. Ability to interact with staff at all levels from craftpersons to senior executives. Knowledge base to successfully diagnosis issues that cover multiple areas of interaction.

  • Fluent in English language
  • Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
  • Must possess driver's license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
