About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Software Safety Engineer to perform Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) support for various acquisition programs (i.e. Submarines, Integrated Weapon Systems, Weapons, and Vehicles). This position will support NAVY and Marine Corps programs in our Stafford and Dahlgren, VA locations!

Candidate will be responsible for performing Environmental, Safety Occupational and Health and system safety required activities throughout the life cycle for various acquisition programs
  • Development of software specifications and or requirements.
  • Evaluating design and technology options, test results for safety impact.
  • Assess software changes (i.e. STR, ECPS, CR…) for safety impact.
  • Develop software safety program plan (to include identifying the appropriate level of rigor to be applied), conduct software criticality analysis and safety assessment reports.
  • Develop briefs and data packages in support of Software System Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP); system safety working groups.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent. (2) years experience in the various elements of software safety support for combat systems, combat support, and other related systems. Must have experience with the application of MIL-STD-882. Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel. Position requires an Active Security Clearance.

Knowledge and experience with the Joint Software Systems Safety Handbook (SSSH)
