About the Business Line
We create comprehensive delivery solutions for water, wastewater and wet weather systems, desalination, water resources, water reuse, tunneling, and community infrastructure through traditional and alternative delivery services such as program management and design-build.

Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity available in our Yellowknife, NT office for an experienced Municipal Project Engineer /Project Manager. The successful candidate will lead the planning, design and construction phases of expansions or upgrades to municipal infrastructure projects including urban drainage and storm water management, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and roads.

You will have hands-on involvement in the preparation of designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents and will also participate in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, and contract administration for municipal and resource based infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities will include: preparation of studies; assessments; preliminary and detailed design including process analysis, hydraulic analysis, modeling and troubleshooting; development of cost estimates and tenders; specifications and contract document preparation; tendering and contract administration; project management, and construction management.

You will demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.

As a project manager you will also be responsible for:
  • Client management and business development including preparation of proposals for public and private sector clients.
  • Client relationship management, ensuring project delivery meets with client expectations;
  • Engage, hands-on, in the technical execution of client assignments through to successful project completion.
  • Staying abreast of industry standards and approaches, and implements best practices.
  • Monitoring project delivery against established budgets, schedules and quality and provision of support and guidance to design lead/team personnel as required;
  • Oversight and management of construction phases of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget;
  • Ensuring project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems;
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate staff; and
  • Representing AECOM in relevant professional organizations and associations.

Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University
  • 10 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering
  • Eligibility for provincial licensing with NAPEG
  • Experience in undertaking the design, specifications, scheduling, cost estimating, tendering, construction and commissioning
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D
  • Proven project management technical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Committed team player and highly self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications
  • 15 years of related experience
  • In addition to linear piping systems the ideal candidate will have experience in the planning, design and construction phases of expansions or upgrades to water, wastewater and drainage pumping stations
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering multi-discipline municipal and/or civil infrastructure projects for both public sector and industrial clients
  • Ability to analyze issues and determine priorities in an environment of tight and conflicting deadlines
