Defence Mission Systems are looking for a Manufacturing Technician based in Templecombe to work within the HF Arrays product team. As a Technician you will be responsible for the assembly of electro-mechanical assemblies and their sub-assemblies, wiring harness, cable looms and any associated modifications. Health and safety will be of paramount importance in this role in addition to supervising the build of products from ensuring all kit and consumables are available prior to build, right through to product manufacture. You will also assist in tutoring and training more junior staff as necessary to produce an informed and widely skiled team.

Key duties:

  • Incorporate modifications of existing equipment when required.
  • Assembly in accordance with route cards and data pack comprising drawings and design change documentation.
  • Familiarity with appropriate company documentation and workmanship standards.
  • Adhere to COSHH regulations when handling and mixing chemicals and adhesives.
  • Mechanical assembly using hand and special tooling.
  • Repairs and rework as necessary to recognised salvage schemes.
  • Mechanical assembly of light engineering products.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • City and Guilds Mechanical, NVQ 3 Electro / Mechanical or equivalent.
  • Must be capable of interpreting wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and change instructions.
  • Good all round education including Maths and English.
  • PC literate.
  • Experience in a Production or Development facility or similar environment.
  • Understands the processes involved and is capable of manufacturing acoustic panels.
