This opportunity to join the team as a Principal Environmental Planner / Scientist is an opportunity for you to contribute to the further growth and success of Advisian's future. In this role of Principal Environmental Scientist / Planner, you will provide expert environmental planning and impact assessment advice to our internal stakeholders and external customers, across a range of various infrastructure and resource projects. As a commercially driven team leader, you will win work and provide direction and support to a highly talented and solutions driven team of environmental planning experts.

  • Actively participate in building the capability of the environmental management, planning and approvals team and workload across NSW, Australia and beyond, in line with Advisian strategies and with a focus on the key growth areas of infrastructure, transportation, water, oil and gas, power, and mining.
  • Apply your in-depth knowledge of the NSW and Commonwealth planning and environmental impact assessment legislation to foster new and existing customer relationships.
  • Provide mentorship to your team members and help encourage the strategic value-add advice we deliver to our customers.
  • Practice and promote our OneWay vision and our zero harm to our people and the environment initiatives to all stakeholders and colleagues around us.
  • Deliver environmental services that meet Advisian's, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Initiate, manage and drive environmental impact assessment, planning and approvals project requirements.

What you will bring to the Team
  • Highly motivated with effective technical and practical planning and environmental assessment skills and qualifications.
  • An ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Advisian and its customers.
  • A proven track record of managing and working with a high performing multidisciplinary team of consultants.
  • A recognised environmental planning or science degree with principal level experience.
  • Thorough understanding and experience in the implementation of NSW and Commonwealth planning legislation and processes. A proven track record in leading a range of environmental impact assessments in NSW (including transport, resource, energy, water and infrastructure) in either a Project Manager or Project Director role.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external clients at senior levels to implement and execute successful business strategies.
  • Experience in leading proposals and bids, including excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects of various size and complexity.
