We are looking for a Team Leader, Wayside Software to be based in Gothenburg for our Rail Control Solutions Division

Rail Control Solutions (RCS) is a world leader in developing, engineering and installing rail control and signalling safety systems, products and services. RCS enables the safe and efficient operation of rail networks and trains.

The Gothenburg site develops state of the art communication based train control systems. The main applications are as advanced systems for automated ore transports in mines, and as cost effective signaling solutions for regional railways. Our operations are currently undergoing a substantial expansion, meaning that we need to improve our capabilities for project execution

The role
The core purpose of this role is for you to lead a team of Software developers with overall responsibility for organizing and governing execution of our Software development projects at the Gothenburg site within the RCS (Rail Control Systems) division.

You and your team will work in international customer projects as well as internal R&D projects. The responsibilities of the team will be to design, implement and unit test safety critical software for driverless trains. Development process improvements and configuration management is also a part of the teams responsibilities.

This role will ensure that you would be involved with:
  • Planning the activities of your team of 10-15 individuals with respect to the needs of customer and R&D projects
  • Develop your team, in recruitment, planning, and competence development
  • Customer interaction and liaising with the overall Project team
  • Identifies and resolve technical, operational and organizational issues.
  • Acting project manager of smaller work packages.

Your Experience and Qualifications

We believe you are educated to a Master of Science degree within a relevant field, with 3 years of experience from a similar role. Experience in the following fields will be of merit:
  • Hands on experience in software development
  • Experience in Agile software development (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Knowledge about software requirement engineering
  • Fluent English
  • Experience of safety critical software
  • Experience of continuous integration (Jenkins or similar)
  • Excellent leadership and planning skills
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of Managing a large international team
  • Leading team reviews with individuals as well as to the larger team
  • Managing expectations of customer and supplier
  • Good understanding of verification and validation

In order to be successful in this position you need be well organized, analytical and structured with good problem solving skills. You need to be driven with good communication and collaborative abilities. Since this position also includes cooperation with other stakeholders you need to be both social and have high degree of integrity.
