Job Summary
The Transportation division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transit/Rail Project Manager for immediate employment in the New York, NY office. This position will work directly with client senior management in managing the scope, budget, quality and schedule of work for a large recovery/resiliency capital program. The individual must demonstrate the ability to execute assigned work in accordance with standard agency procedures, guidelines and must be knowledgeable on commuter rail systems and infrastructure.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Management of the development and execution of project(s) scope, schedule and budget
  • Coordination of the field visits for external agencies to review work completed
  • Coordination of 3rd party contractor and force account field activities
  • Regular communication with the client senior management regarding events and problems requiring immediate attention
  • Assistance in reporting on the status and expediting resolution of project action items and design/construction issues
  • Support in coordination with required external agencies
  • Preparation of project updates, presentations, recommendations and other project plans
  • Review and development of progress and status reports
  • Scheduling coordination and attendance of all progress meetings

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction/Project Management
  • 10 years of experience in managing transit design and construction projects
  • Ability to understand and interpret civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings
  • Experience in managing railroad work scope, budgets and schedules
  • Strong technical and project coordination skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of railroad operations
  • Knowledge of Project Management scheduling and estimating
  • Knowledge of railroad engineering specifications and standards
  • Knowledge of construction when working in proximity to railroad operations
  • Knowledge of FRA Roadway Worker Safety Regulation and industry safety standards (i.e. OSHA)
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer and office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license (PE)
  • Project Management Professional (Certified PMP)
  • Knowledge of large commuter rail organization(s) and operations
