The primary objective of Severn Trent Water Wholesale Operations - Belper team is to operate and maintain the areas 17 Sewage Treatment Works and 80 Sewage Pumping stations. Our team consists of 19 operators and maintainers who cover the area around Belper, Ripley, Alfreton in Derbyshire.
The role will consist of carrying out direct planned and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of assets. Sound engineering skills are essential and basic fabrication skills are also preferred along with good general knowledge of workshop practice. The role holder must be prepared to train into a multi skilled electrical role. Training will be provided for this to enable basic electrical work to be carried out in conjunction with the core mechancical work. The role holder will work on a variety of sites from larger manned sites to smaller sites in a rural setting. You will be provided with a vehicle, laptop and safety clothing appropriate to the job. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward thinking maintenance team working on a variety of equipment under differing conditions.
Minimise the number of non operational assets at our sewage treatment works Participate in a standby rota to respond to out of hours maintenance requests Comply with Statutory and Company policies and procedures. Ensure the Health and Safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public. Maintain effective communication with colleagues and other departments. Approach customers in a friendly, helpful manner. Travel to different sites as required. Diagnose, repair and report on faulty equipment.
In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have: Essential: Experience in general Mechanical maintenance. Experience in using IT systems. Desirable: Experience within the sewage treatment or other process industry would be an advantage. Experience in basic electrical maintenance

A formal apprenticeship in Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering with a minimum qualification of NVQ3 (or equivalent) in either discipline, experience in role would be an advantage. A full driving license.
