General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

GDMS has an immediate opening Deputy Program Manager for Engineering (DPME), a Senior Principal Engineering role. The DPME position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various GDMS and client technologies. Key Responsibilities:
GDMS is seeking an experienced DPME to lead our portfolio of Radar Programs. In this position, the DPME will be responsible for the overall technical execution, including the cost and schedule management of the technical team. In this position, the candidate is required to support Government meetings and create consensus among the engineering technical team, the government team, and the program manager. The DPME must possess excellent oral presentations skills and be able to maintain the engineering team's focus on budget, schedule, and technical execution. Good communication skills, writing skills, and teamwork skills are required. Travel maybe required to support the distributed nature of the work. The use of team collaboration tools are also required.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering managers for allocation of engineering resources to various project teams

  • Support the quarterly engineering employee evaluations

  • Perform day to day management and leadership of multi-discipline engineering project teams throughout the entire development life cycle to ensure on-time delivery of fully compliant, quality products

  • Develop project schedules/budgets and execute and manage these project schedules/budgets per GDMS established development processes

  • Manage project teams to ensure product requirements, design to cost requirements and design for manufacturing requirements are fully met

  • Monitor project milestones and risks throughout the development cycle, and develop work-around options and risk mitigation strategies to ensure on-time completion of project schedules per established project budgets

  • Regularly report project status identifying current key project milestone status, budget tracking, risks and opportunities, as well as resource staffing

  • Travel when required

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

  • Establish, Status and Maintain the Program Baseline

  • Establish the program Engineering Organization (structure)

  • Identify engineering staffing needs and obtain Engineering resources

  • Identify and obtain appropriate facilities and resources and tools for the Engineering staff

  • Develop and Maintain the Engineering Management Plan (EMP)

  • Conduct Engineering Status Reviews and Engineering Technical Reviews

  • Perform Program Risk Management

  • Manage engineering interfaces with the customer

The DPME position requires a Bachelor's degree in a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a Master's degree and a minimum of eight years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense TS security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
